Bolzano: Violence, resisting a public official and aggravated damage, 24-year-old repeat offender arrested

A call came into the Police Headquarters Operations Centre, through the emergency number “112 NUE”, for a report of a drunk man disturbing the owner and customers of a club in Piazza Walther, the “SIGNORVINO”. The Flying Squad crews of the State Police, who arrived in a few moments at the reported location, immediately They intervened to assist a Carabiniere, who was on public order duty at the Christmas Markets at the time, who was holding back an agitated individual.

At the sight of the police officers, the man first slapped one officer and then kicked his colleague. Given the violent aggression shown by the subject, the police officers at that point took out and used the pepper spray towards the troublemaker, with the aim of calming him down and making him get into the patrol car for the subsequent escort to the police station.

During the journey the young man recovered and, with violent kicks, destroyed one of the rear windows of the company car. In the offices of Largo Palatucci the man was fully identified as VL, a 24 year old from Bolzano with a criminal record. and/or police for crimes against the person and mistreatment in the family, as well as for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing. At the end of the Judicial Police proceedings, the young man was arrested for the crimes of violence and resistance to a public official and aggravated damage, and held in the Police Headquarters Security Chambers awaiting the direct judgement.

The Police Chief of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori, then, in consideration of the violence shown by the arrested person and the seriousness of what happened, he immediately issued the DACUR Personal Prevention Measure against the suspect - Ban on Access for 2 years to Public Establishments in the Capital. "Another assault on an officer of the Police during an intervention, the umpteenth one, by now, that has occurred in recent times in Bolzano – highlighted with regret the Police Commissioner Sartori –. It is unacceptable that those who represent the State, in enforcing the law, must systematically suffer insults and violence. For this reason it was decided to proceed with the arrest of those who have repeatedly demonstrated, even violently, that they do not respect laws and institutions.".
