Bolzano: no license and serious food hygiene deficiencies, immediate closure for the ethnic market "Mashreqy Alimentare"
The Police Chief of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori has ordered the immediate closure of the ethnic market “Mashreqy Alimentare” located in Bolzano, in Viale Druso 30.
The Measure adopted by the Police Commissioner, immediately following the joint inspection carried out by specialized personnel of the Administrative Police Division of the State Police, the Local Police and the ASL, is due to the evident critical issues connected to the exercise of a commercial activity in the absence of the necessary License, in addition to the very serious food hygiene problems due to the sale of foods without any label on the packaging, such as the lack of name of the food sold, the origin, the expiry date and the ingredients.
In particular, it emerged that this SSS, a 30-year-old Afghan citizen, was caught managing the market without any license, as well as selling food in makeshift packages without any label, or with descriptions in oriental languages without any translation into Italian.
The elements and circumstances illustrated above appear to be very significant with regard to the situation seriously compromising public health which they, in concrete terms, represented, as well as the absolute contempt shown by the manager towards the Italian laws that regulate this very delicate matter.
Furthermore, specific sanctions will be issued against him as soon as possible in relation to the individual offences committed. In this regard, further in-depth investigations are underway for their correct identification and application.
"The opening and management of a Food Market in the heart of a city centre without any licence and without providing even the slightest information about the food on sale is of an unacceptable gravity – he was keen to point out. Police Commissioner Sartori –. The tranquility and reliability of citizens in being able to purchase healthy food products, as well as the protection of the health of individuals, represent primary goods perceived by the entire population as such: for these reasons it is necessary to protect them with the utmost rigor, preventing situations that put people's health at risk from repeating themselves. The immediate closure of this public establishment, therefore, has the purpose of stemming a problem that could have caused tragic repercussions on people's health".
