During the operational activities, 31 foreign citizens belonging to various nationalities, mainly Serbs, Bosnians, Moldovans, were identified.

In Ponticolo, an extraordinary police operation was carried out aimed at combating illegal immigration, part of the more complex strategy of verifying the validity of residence permits ordered by the Police Chief of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori.
On this occasion, personnel from the operational units belonging to the State Police - Brennero Public Security Commissioner, the Brennero Carabinieri Station and the Local Police of the Municipality of Brennero carried out the inspection of the abandoned building called “Pontiglhof”, sometimes used as an occasional refuge for illegal immigrants from Austria, currently in the initial phase of renovation.
The inspection of this building was assessed and decided in light of the increasing coming and going of presumed foreign citizens, judging by the various nationalities of registration of vehicles present in the parking lot (including Serbia, Republic of Moldova and others), noted and reported to the Police by citizens in the appurtenances of the building, and followed previous checks carried out in recent months.
During operational activities they were 31 foreign citizens belonging to various nationalities were identified, mainly Serbs, Bosnians, Moldovans, presumably workers in the construction sector, mostly with identity documents and residence permits issued by the Croatian authorities, committed to fixing up the building. However, the owner of the building, a Croatian citizen, could not be found.
During the subsequent checks - still in the in-depth phase - they were 8 illegal foreign citizens identified.
Taken to the Immigration Office of the Bolzano Police Headquarters, the Police Chief issued the same number of arrest warrants against them. Expulsion Decrees from the national territory, which they will now have 7 days to comply with.
With regard to 2 other subjects burdened by criminal and/or police records, who found themselves without appreciable reason and in unjustified circumstances in the municipal area of Brennero, the Police Commissioner ordered the issuance of the Personal Prevention Measure provided for by the Code of Laws Anti-mafia of the oral notice.
“This type of Security Police activity to combat illegal immigration is aimed at preventing it from taking root on our territory foreign criminals, often without the necessary permit to stay in our country, who, with their behavior, cause particular social alarm and compromise civil coexistence – highlighted Commissioner Sartori – More generally, the objective is to maintain the highest possible level of legality throughout the territory of our Province, making citizens perceive the closeness of the Institutions to the problems and needs they consider essential".
