Bolzano: Foreign Convict Arrested, Attacks Officers with Kicks and Spits and Strips in Front of Passers-by
Yesterday afternoon, December 27th, around 18.30pm, a call arrived at the Operations Centre of the Police Headquarters, through the emergency number "112 NUE", to report a annoying individual in Ziller Square.
The crews of the State Police Flying Squad, having arrived in a few moments at the reported location, immediately proceeded to check an individual, who, when asked to show an identification document, he immediately appeared very aggressive, starting to swear and spit repeatedly in the direction of the company car.
Verbally reprimanded by the police, the man became even more enraged, shouting incomprehensible Arabic phrases in a threatening tone, while he quickly undressed, showing his private parts to the officers.
Given the anger of the stranger and considering that the square was full of passers-by, who were watching in fear, it was decided to put him in a position where he could not do any harm and to accompany him to the Police Headquarters.
Here the criminal lunged at one of the policemen, trying to headbutt him. Despite the presence of 4 Police Officers, the individual was not at all intimidated - later identified as CM, a 25-year-old Tunisian citizen with political refugee status, well known to the Police Forces as he has a criminal record for numerous crimes of the same nature, as well as crimes against the person and property - and insisted forcefully in struggling, trying to hit them all with headbutts, kicks, bites and spits, finally managing to injure one of them, who was examined in the Emergency Room and discharged with a recovery prognosis of 10 days.
In light of what had happened, the criminal was taken into custody arrest for the crimes of resistance and violence against a public official and aggravated injuries; therefore, at the end of the Judicial Police proceedings, CM was held in the Police Headquarters' Security Cells at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The Police Chief of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Paolo Sartori, therefore, in consideration of the seriousness of what happened and of the precedents against him, immediately urged the competent Territorial Commission for Refugees to order the revocation of the international protection status granted to CM, in order to be able to issue against him an Expulsion Decree from the National Territory.
“Yet another attack on a Police Officer during an intervention, the umpteenth, now, that has occurred in recent times in Bolzano – highlighted with regret the Police Commissioner Sartori –. It is unacceptable that those who represent the State, in enforcing the law, must systematically suffer insults and violence. For this reason it was decided to proceed with the arrest of those who have repeatedly demonstrated, even violently, that they do not respect laws and institutions”
