Al Manzoni by Milano Francini and Alessandro Federico as the Fo-Rame couple

The splendid theatrical reflection on the very current couple of Dario Fo and Franca Rame returns to the Manzoni. This time the “Coppiaaperto quasiinternota” is played by two explosives Alessandro Federico and Chiara Francini with the direction ofAlessandro Tedeschi. From 27 to 29 January at Manzoni di Milano the gags and the profound reflections, albeit lightened by the comic language of the two actors: «First rule: for the open couple to work, it must be open on only one side, that of the male! Because... if the open couple is open on both sides... there are air currents!».

Ironic enough and sensual when she wants, Chiara Francini is an eclectic artist, a volcano of charisma and vitality, with important roles on the small and big screen, hosting alongside TV pillars such as Pippo Baudo and a literary debut with 45 thousand copies sold and 8 reprints.

Plot: Here we put ourselves to the test with an important text, which celebrates the role of women within the couple. The energetic Antonia embodies the perfect heroine of all betrayed wives and ironically recounts their "survival" within the home. In order to continue to be close to her husband, the protagonist decides to accept the unthinkable. Thus the most absurd episodes unfold between brilliant dialogues and monologues. Only when a new, young and intelligent man enters Antonia's heart, does the husband seem to realize his wife's existence, her being a woman, her desperate need to be loved and considered. This comedy is a tragicomic fable that tells what it means to be in a couple. Fo and Rame describe it perfectly with funny, but also dramatic tones, telling the differences between male and female psychology. Everyone recognizes themselves, “Open couple…almost wide open” brings to the stage the relative intolerance towards the concept of monogamy. It represents one of the most popular shows in Italy. In Germany it was so successful that it was shown in 30 theaters at the same time.
