MILAN BEYOND BROADWAY, THE MUSICAL GOES ON STAGE IN THE SUBURBS: STUDENTS FROM THE LOCAL SCHOOLS ARE THE PROTAGONISTS

The musical on stage in the outskirts of the city. Milano like and beyond New York. In addition to what happens on Broadway, the world capital of musicals.

A project, 'All the World is Theatre, the Musical', proposed by Stage Entertainment (a multinational entertainment company that manages the Lirico and Nazionale theaters of Milano) which is part of the initiative of the Municipality of Milano entitled 'Milano is alive' and presented today by the Councilor for Culture, Tommaso Sacchi.

“Our initiative – explains Matteo Forte, managing director for Italy of Stage Entertainment – ​​is aimed at children from Milanese peripheral high schools who, at the end of a training course, will have the opportunity to participate in a live show” . A show entitled 'All the World is Theatre', created by Chiara Noschese in cooperation with the teachers of the Musical Academy Milano, aimed at enhancing students' personal abilities and encouraging the creation of socio-relational dynamics within a shared, protected and professional space.

“For each neighborhood – adds Matteo Forte – two reference schools will be involved and the students will be trained partly in the classroom and partly on the theater stage.

The aim is to expand the school system of Milano making available a model for offering musical practice that involves students and their teachers”.

The project includes a 15-hour workshop (in each institute) on the three disciplines of Musical: Dance (5 hours), Singing (5 hours) and Acting (5 hours) and will be managed by the teachers of the Musical Academy Milano including Nadia Scherani and Giuseppe Galizia.

 

The show will be staged in suburban theaters by Stage Entertainment. “In this way – concludes Matteo Forte – the young actors will not only have the opportunity to feel like protagonists of a real musical, but also to attend a show staged by professionals in the sector”.

The Gaber Foundation, active since 2006, with the aim of disseminating the figure and work of Giorgio Gaber, creating editorial works and organizing national events ("Milano for Gaber” and “Festival Gaber”). He actively works with schools and universities, creating courses reserved for young people on social issues with the aim of raising their awareness of these issues by increasing their critical sense and reflection. The Foundation has collaborated with more than 60 schools across the country, from Lombardy, Lazio, Veneto to Tuscany.

Azione Solidale is a social cooperative that has been operating since 1993 in the western area of Milano to achieve effective social inclusion of all citizens, especially the most vulnerable, creating a concrete local community that helps young people, adults, people with disabilities and families to flourish and be protagonists, planning interventions and managing socio-educational services in collaboration with public services and other territorial organizations.

It manages the Crete Youth Aggregation Center which works on relationships, emotional bonds, closeness and solidarity to strengthen the participatory construction of responses, starting from the resources of young people, thus offering a "place to grow", an alternative to boredom and entry into circuits of crime and deviance, but above all an experience of responsibility and active citizenship.

Area Dance is a professional space for dancer training, located in Porto di Mare, zone 4. It was founded in 2007 from the desire of Giuseppe Galizia, dancer and performer, to promote dance in all its expressions, on the model of the most prestigious schools of international dance.

It is the point of reference for dancers, engaged in the most important dance companies, and professional performers working in musical theater both in Italy and abroad.

President Giuseppe Galizia, together with other teachers of the school, is part of the teaching staff of the Musical Academy Milano.

The show will be staged in 4 different areas on the outskirts of Milano in collaboration with 4 higher institutes located in the same areas.
